I look forward to meeting each of you and your children. It is going to be a wonderful year. As Catholic educators it is our responsibility to bring light to our students so they can shine brightly- academically and spiritually. It is especially important that the PreKindergarten program is positive and nurturing since it is your child’s first experience with coming to school. We thank you for choosing our Catholic school to partner with you in providing a firm foundation in Catholic Education.
A quality preschool program educates the whole child, immersed in a language-rich environment where peer interactions and oral language skills can flourish. Development of language skills has a direct impact on learning to read and write as children progress through school.
Because our PreK 3 current enrollment is less than five students, we want to ensure those that are enrolled have all the components necessary to develop those critical language and social skills. What do they need? More peers! We are fortunate to have the opportunity to create a multi-age classroom this year by bringing our three-year-old students together with some four-year-old peers so that language and social development can occur with an adequate number of students participating in stations, playtime, partner work, and circle time. Early childhood programs often have a wide range of ages and abilities as students prepare to enter Kindergarten. We also need to balance PreK 4 class so all students are provided with individualized care and instruction. This fits within educational norms and what is developmentally appropriate.
For the 2022-2023 school year, we will serve all PreKindergarten students in two classes, PreK A and PreK B. The PreK A class teacher is Monica Suarez and the PreK B class teacher is Michele Foster. Both teachers will continue to collaborate with each other and plan curriculum and activities based on the PreKindergarten guidelines set forth by the state as well as our Catholic Schools Office Guide to Quality and Effectiveness. Your child’s teacher will contact you by next Wednesday, August 10 so you know which classroom to visit on Meet the Teacher Night.
We ask for your support and prayers as we welcome all students to this school year. I know it will be one where your children grow spiritually, academically, physically and emotionally.
